The Disability Unity Festival celebrates 25 years of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), bringing California residents, businesses, and organizations together to celebrate the value of all members of the disability community – a community that makes California a vibrant, diverse, forward-thinking, and exciting place to live, work, learn, and grow. Indigo Mind artist Lauren Hartman and representatives from Creative Growth Arts Center will be active during the festival, among many other amazing organizations. The daytime festivities will transition into the evening opening reception of Indigo Mind at StoreFrontLab, 6-9pm.

Lauren Hartman is an artist, educator, and community organizer living and working in Oakland, California. For over a decade Lauren has been working professionally in fine arts and maintains a rigorous studio-based practice. She received an MFA in Painting from San Francisco Art Institute in 2010 and a BFA in Printmaking from Columbus College of Art and Design. Lauren seeks to create an open dialogue about cultural issues and current events though her work. She is driven by man's relationship to natural forces, and explores the outcomes of these relationships through her craft.

Creative Growth Art Center serves adult artists with developmental, mental and physical disabilities, providing a professional studio environment for artistic development, gallery exhibition and representation and a social atmosphere among peers.
