_CANCELLED_NEIL MARCUS // Touching Time #2

  • StoreFrontLab 337 Shotwell Street San Francisco, CA, 94110 United States (map)

**THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE**

Indigo Mind welcomes artist Neil Marcus as he presents his piece Touching Time #2, an exploration of verbal and non-verbal communication.

Neil Marcus ... Film actor. Butoh dancer. Contact improvisational lover. Occasional guest lecturer on the subject of disability and performance theory and practice. As a writer, dancer, actor, philosopher and visual artist and poet I work with the key idea that disability is an Art. I am dystonic. Because of my speech, often, in order to get the words out, I must say things in the most dramatic/emotion filled ways I can think of. I believe this aids me in breaking down the stereotypes of disability. ‘We must speak of LOVE’ What is disability? Performance artist, writer, and actor Neil Marcus encourages his audience to rethink disability as something that is not medical or physiological. Rather, Marcus suggests, "Disability is an art. It's an ingenious way to live." Based on this perspective, Marcus aims to live artfully: non-medically, non-stereotypically, and full of soul.
