Indigo Mind presents an Integrative Dance Workshop + Performance by Bay Area-based dancers Sonsherée Giles and Dwayne Scheuneman.

Sonsheree and Dwayne will perform an intimate duet that is based on trust, listening and support. The workshop that follows will use the duet as a platform to look at building trust and listening skills in order to be in contact and relationship with others. The motivation of this workshop is to connect with your body and deepen connection with others and ultimately to listen, play and have fun.

All people with and without dance experience are welcome.

Sonsherée Giles is a dancer, choreographer, teacher and costume designer, born in New Orleans, LA. She moved to the Bay Area to Attend Mills College and received her MFA in performance/choreography. She has toured and performed for audiences throughout the United States, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Russia, Scotland and Canada. She has taught contemporary dance in public school systems, universities, institutions and dance festivals throughout the country.

She makes dances that investigate movement repetition, chance operation, landscapes, art history, and daily life experiences. Her dancing is indirectly influenced by a long-term relationship with the physical act of running and yoga. She formed a container for her choreography called This Sweet Nothing in which she collaborates with a collective of artists to create intermedia dance works.

Her work has been generously supported by Zellerbach Family Foundation, CLOROX Company Foundation, CA$H grant, and East Bay Fund for Individual Artists. Sonsherée has received an Isadora Duncan Award for ensemble performance, and a Homer Avila Award for Excellence in the field of integrated dance. From 2005-15, Sonsherée was with AXIS Dance Company as a performing/teaching artist. Currently, she is creating and presenting new work, dancing for Amy Lewis, Nancy Karp & Dancers, Lizz Roman & Dancers, and performing work by choreographer Marc Brew. Please visit sonsheree.com
