With more information at our fingertips and yet a growing sense of chaos, we enter the year 2020 with big questions. This series invites you to connect with fellow neighbors grappling with similar feelings and questions — opening the possibility of a spark or new perspective, and of feeling less alone in your concerns.

Halloween seemed like the perfect night to re-open StoreFrontLab. Stop by for pumpkin carving and treats for kids of all ages (wink, wink)–before heading to the Central Mission Shotwell Halloween Stroll.

In the flow of stuff from generation to generation, we all end up holding on to things for sentimental reasons or because we thought of someone who could use them. The Community Memory Store is a chance to launch these special belongings on a new course through history (or change the course of others) and support StoreFrontLab.

THE ESTABLISHMENT presents
FemmeBot: Gendering Technology

A special exhibition and discussion supporting The Establishment. Run entirely by women and dedicated to providing a platform for marginalized voices, creators, and stories, The Est. is a multimedia news + culture site as diverse as the world we live in.

Over three nights this spring, CLIMAX sought to break down social barriers and blur boundaries between artist and audience through immersive, participatory experiences exploring critical themes of the current political moment. This final event will highlight selected artifacts, video and sound from the project series.

StoreFrontLab #Action is pleased to host West Coast Women, the collective behind the Unite and Lady Liberty bandanas, for two days of creative activism. Inspired by the 2017 Women’s March, these collaboratively crafted bandanas have raised more than $2600 for social causes.

With recent news of indecent male to female contact filling our news media, the perception of touch and intimacy is replaced with force and objectivity. Release challenges the audience to reconnect with the body as a positive experience through touch, sight, and sound.

CLOSING WEEK

This exhibition and program series highlighting the work and ideas of The Open Workshop closes this week with two special events. 

On March 11, Night 2: RELEASE invited guests to connect mind and body through an intimate and healing exploration. CLIMAX, a four evening series of immersive experiences and euphoric reflection presented by Space Open, continues through May.
